Must-Visit in Malta for Students — Sliema Neo Citea Bubble Tea Spot 🧋
Must-Visit in Malta for Students — Neo Citea Bubble Tea Spot 🧋
Hello☺️ I’m JingJing. We are a Korean couple currently studying in Malta.
Today, I’m excited to introduce Neo Citea, a cozy bubble tea café near Sliema seafront. If you’re a student living here or just visiting for travel, this spot is perfect for when you crave a sweet pick-me-up.
I was actually walking near the seaside when I first noticed this café, and ever since, it has become one of our small happiness spots in Malta.

1) Why Neo Citea
There are not many dedicated bubble tea shops in Malta, so Neo Citea really feels special. It’s only about 10 minutes from the Sliema beach, making it a great stop during a walk. What I liked most was that the staff were very kind and explained the menu in detail — even asking about sugar and ice preferences, which isn’t common here. That made me feel like I was back in Korea for a moment. 💛
2) Menu Recommendations
- Brown Sugar Milk Tea — rich and creamy, with a sweetness that feels just right. It’s the most popular one, and I completely understand why.
- Jasmine Green Tea — if you want something lighter, this has a floral fragrance that refreshes you, especially on warm Maltese afternoons.
- Oolong Milk Tea — stronger tea flavor with a clean finish. Great if you want depth without too much sweetness.
They also have limited editions sometimes, like fruit teas or seasonal flavors. I tried a peach version once, and it was so refreshing I wished they kept it all year.
3) 🏠 Space & Service
The café is small but clean. The second floor isn’t open, so most people order takeout. Still, there’s a small table on the first floor if you want to sit for a short while. One fun detail: the walls have capybara art, which makes the place more memorable.
The staff are usually young and cheerful, and the drinks come out quickly even during busier times. I once ordered three drinks at once, and they packed them neatly so nothing spilled — that really impressed me.
4) 🚚 Order & Delivery Tips
For those studying late or just too tired to go out, Neo Citea is available on Bolt and Wolt. I tried ordering through Bolt, and the drink arrived still cold, sealed tightly with no leaks.
This makes it super convenient, especially if you live near Sliema or St. Julian’s. If you’re walking around, I recommend takeaway. Holding a cup of bubble tea while strolling along the seafront is such a vibe.

Every time I visit, I notice many international students also stopping by.
It feels like a small community spot where people from different countries share the same love for bubble tea.
If you’re new to Malta and miss Asian flavors, this is definitely a place to check out. Whether you take a photo with the capybara mural, enjoy a sweet drink by the sea, or simply grab a cup before heading home, Neo Citea always leaves me happy. 💕
